joan bennet swim cap

photo of reverse

1950's JOAN BENNETT PLAYTEX "SWIM CAP OF THE STARS" SWIMMING CAP, BLUE, RUBBER SWIMMING CAP LIKE MOM AND GRANDMA USED TO WEAR, THE CAP IS PROTECTED BY A YELLOW, LIGHT-WEIGHT CARDBOARD FOLDER WHICH DOES NOT LOOK LIKE IT HAS EVER BEEN OPENED, THE PACKAGE ADVERTISES JOAN BENNETT STARRING IN THE MOVIE "WE'RE NO ANGELS", THE PACKAGE ALSO SAYS IT "FITS ALL HEAD SIZES - SPECIAL WATER-TITE SEALS PROTECTS EARS AND HAIR-DO - NO PRESSURE, NO BINDING", THE PACK MEASURES 7" WIDE BY 7 1/2" HIGH,  THE PACKAGE HAS NO ADDITIONAL COVERING OF PLASTIC...I DO NOT KNOW IF IT EVER DID, condition of the cap is fine to very fine.  The package is in near mint condition.  I can find no defects in that except for one small bump (not a crease or a tear - just like a bump) on the upper right corner of the front; The swim cap has slight wear on the rubber section of the strap that has been raised by the adjustment buckle - just a slight darkening and a slight shininess.  Also, as you can see from the photo, the top of the cap has yellowed and shows some wear    #bennetcap    $49.00   SOLD

VINTAGE RED BEADED PURSE, with single black bead deliberately sewed into the purse on each side leading me to believe it may be a native American trade piece, but I  do not know much about that area of knowledge, 5 1/2" wide, 8 " long, 9' long including the fringe, red gabardine hand-sewn interior lining, cord pull string, fine condition with 2 strands of the fringe missing and some minor damage to the main part of the purse (I believe all the beads are there), the cord seems to have faded since it is now almost brown    #FS15253    $85.00    NOW $70.00

UNDERWOOD, condition of this magazine sheet is near mint, There are a couple of very small, stray dots from the printing process on each side, there is a kind of crinkle in the top area of the page around the heads    #FS1914    $22.00

1920 "COLORED KIDS" F. B & C KIDSKIN SHOES / BOOTS AD SHOWING A WOMAN BEING TEASED BY AFRICAN AMERICAN CHILDREN,  this is a play on the company's much more common ad "white kids" shoes, ad is black and white illustration, 10 1/4" x 16", fine condition with some of the print from the ad on the other side coming through above the little girl    #BA10357    $26.00

VINTAGE CARNIVAL LONG LINE LACE BRA, 34B, padded, I am not certain of the age, but it does have a union label, made of nylon and lycra, under the lace it is flesh color- not grey as it looks in my photo, I do not know if it has been worn or not, the label looks new but there is a slight bit of wear on the lace (nothing really detracting, but it is there) in the center of the cleavage (but that could be just from being in a drawer, overall excellent condition    #FS25598    $18.00

1960's - '70's METALLIC GOLD (LAME ?) GLOVES BY FINALE,  never worn, with original maker's tag, "fits size 6 -7", I think probably more size 6 than 7, near mint condition    #FS26326    $15.00

20TH CENTURY DESIGN BLACK CLUTCH PURSE,  looks and feels like rayon, probably from the 1930s-40's, inside satin lining excellent condition, some wear on the silver color of the balls that make up the snap, some sear marks on the black material directly under the snap, sometimes the snap stays shut and sometimes you have to resnap it several times to get it to work, I think it may be a question of getting the knack of snapping it right    #FS25245    $8.00

.
1960's - '70's METALLIC SILVER (LAME?), probably about a size 6, excellent condition with very slight wear on the palm and hand back of the right glove and some thing like tarnish (I think it will clean out) on the right glove      #FS26327    $15.00
